Everyone knows of the floating torii in Miyajima, but did you know Lake Biwa also has one? Join us on a railway trip past the mountains of Shiga in their red autumn coats to Shirahige Shrine and its floating torii, then to another floating temple and one of the Eight Classic Views of Omi. On the way back to Kyoto we’ll stop at an off-the-tourist-track atmospheric old shrine at the foot of Mount Hiei.
You may end the tour three ways: with an overnight stay at an onsen to experience an authentic Japanese ryokan and hot spring bath, with deluxe kaiseki dinner and breakfast; or a dinner cruise of Lake Biwa aboard the steamboat Michigan with wagyu beef buffet; or return to Kyoto Station with us, stopping along the way at a temple with its crimson pagoda ‘floating’ in a sea of crimson maple leaves. If you would like the onsen option please book at least 3-4 months ahead to be sure we can get you rooms.
