This hands-on tour for foodies begins with an exploration of the Takashimaya depachika, a Disneyland for lovers of fine food. Enjoy the free samples here, but don’t get stuffed yet! We break for coffee tasting at one of Kyoto’s best rated cafes and sources of coffee beans, before moving on to Nishiki Market for yet more food tasting and lunch. You’ll have a couple of free hours after lunch for shopping, after which we proceed to the venue of our cooking class, where English-speaking Japanese chefs will walk you through preparing a typical izakaya-style meal. We’ll be very surprised if you can still have dinner after this! Recommended for families, foodies, coffee lovers, and as a break day between our more temple-heavy tours.
